Hungerford is a thriving market town renowned for its pretty tree lined High Street with an eclectic mix of restaurants, antique shops and independent and national retailers. The town dates from the 12th century and prospered from the wool trade. In the 14th century John O'Gaunt gave the town residents valuable rights and the Town and Manor of Hungerford (www.hungerfordtownandmanor.co.uk) was established. This organisation, together with the Town Hall (www.hungerford.co.uk) is the focus of much of the social activity that takes place.
The town enjoys excellent travel and rail connections. Junction 14 of the M4 is only three miles away and Hungerford Station is within easy walking distance. Fast Eastbound intercity trains will take you to London Paddington within an hour and Westbound trains will take you to Penzance. Local taxies are available to go to Heathrow and Gatwick is also accessible by train via Reading.
Residents of Newton's Mews will be within easy walking distance of the main amenities including supermarket, library, chemist, doctors' surgery, dentist, Town Hall, post office and bank. Both Newbury and Marlborough are approximately 8 miles from Hungerford both offering further services.
Golf may be enjoyed locally at the West Berkshire Golf Club (7 miles), Deanwood golf Club (9 holes, 4 miles), Donnington Grove (6 miles) and several others a little further away. Due to the proximity of Lambourn, racing is keenly followed and, in addition to local point to points racing may be enjoyed at Newbury racecourse (8 miles) which is one of the UK's premier courses and
hosts one of the UK's 36 Group 1 races - the Lockinge Stakes. Fishing is widely available on several beats of the River Kennet and other local fisheries available for both course fishing and fly fishing.
Newton's Mews is a collection of six beautifully renovated freehold cottages and four leasehold apartments located in the heart of Hungerford's pretty High Street. The entrance, through an arch takes you from a bustling street to the charming mews overlooking communal gardens. Moving further through under another arch takes you to further amenity space and the car park where each parking space has a separate electric charging post for those owners who wish to run an electric car. Finished to a high standard each of these properties include modern kitchens with integrated appliances and sleek finish cabinets with quartz work surfaces. The well designed bathrooms are equally impressive with first class fittings and finishes with USP points in electric sockets where appropriate. Although similar, no two houses are the same and interested parties would be well advised to inspect every property.
